Today's Confirmation Class

So today in Confirmation class, we were talking about forgiveness. Being that I've been in a Catholic school nearly all my life, I've learned the cliches with it.

"Forgive and just forget. Everyone deserves a second chance. People can change. Open your heart and see it their point of view."
But do we really live by this quote everytime the going gets tough ?

I know for some fact that for me, forgiving is one of the hard challenges in life. 'An I'm not just saying that to be cliche. At times, I know.. I gotta admit that I'm one to hold grudges for a while.. but it's just because it takes time for me to think, contemplate, and forget about the situation.
During Confirmation class today, Lawrence asked us to draw pictures of people we absolutely don't like. Hehe, I won't say who. So, Lawrence brings out a covered dart board, we put our drawing on it, and dart the picture. I gotta admit.. It did release a lil sumthin sumthin from inside, haha. It did for just about all of us in class. So, after we all did it and had a discussion, Lawrence takes off the covered dart board, unwraps it, and there on the dartboard is Jesus portrayed with the most serene countenance holding a lamb.

And all I could think was.. "What the hell did I do?"

Whatever you do unto others, you do upon God. I don't think it's a sin to dislike someone.. I think everyone has some inner savage at one point. But, to throw darts at this person.. throwing darts at God.. Nah, that's just.. wrong.

& So.. the lesson for today.
" Without forgiveness, it's like holding on to the past. You don't want to be 13 years old when you're 30 ! "
